Mr. Hickmet

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many complaints he has received from individuals found to be ineligible for the orange badge scheme for parking for the disabled since March 1983; and what is the general nature of these complaints.

One hundred and eighty such complaints have been received since March 1983 that the eligibility rules are too narrow or that they are being interpreted too strictly.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many people claimed (a) successfully and (b) unsuccessfully for an orange badge for parking for the disabled in the year ending (i) March 1980, (ii) March 1981, (iii) March 1982, (iv) March 1983, and (v) March 1984.

Twenty-four such complaints were received in the year up to March 1983, and 19 since then.
