Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many young people of the ages (a) 16 and (b) 17 years are in receipt of supplementary benefit in (i) Scotland and (ii) the United Kingdom as a whole.

For the United Kingdom figures are given separately for Great Britain and Northern Ireland because records in Northern Ireland do not distinguish between the two ages.
