asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the ratio of teaching to non-teaching staff employed by local educational boards; and what has been the ratio of teaching costs to non-teaching costs in each year since 1979.

The information is not readily available in the form requested and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost; however, the numbers of non-teaching staff employed and the numbers of full-time teaching posts approved are as follows:
