§ Sir Patrick Wallasked the Secretary of State for Defence if will make a statement on the progress of plans for the type 23 frigate.
§ Mr. LeeThe design of the type 23 frigate has now been approved by the Admiralty Board. Design work is well advanced at the lead shipbuilders, Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd. of Glasgow, and a tender will shortly be invited for the first of class ship. The first order is planned for next year.
