§ Mr. StanleyThe small number of Territorial Army soldiers involved were responding to a request for volunteers from the Royal Birkdale golf club. The initial authorisation for their deployment, which was countermanded at a higher level as soon as it came to light, was given by a local duty officer. The officer concerned has been given a formal rebuke.
