§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Home Secretary what methods he proposes to use in order to eliminate the use of police cells by prisoners.
§ Mr. HurdWe plan to remove all prisoners from police cells by bringing new and refurbished accommodation into use and by making better use of existing facilities. In the longer term the reduction of the minimum qualifying period for parole will have an appreciable effect on the prison population.
