The figures following represent the number of posts to which I was responsible for making appointments at the dates shown, and not the number of appointments falling vacant in each year.

he is authorised to make payments of any kind to non-Government bodies, including individuals, the total amount paid under each such statutory power in 1982–83 and the number of staff involved in making such payments.

The information requested could be fully supplied only at disproportionate cost. I am, however, able to give my hon.
