HC Deb 24 November 1983 vol 49 c271W
Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the bodies to which he has made payments for the purposes of furthering health education and the amounts involved in each year since 1979; and what studies he has undertaken to monitor the use of that money and the effects its use has had.

Mr. John MacKay

The provision of health education falls to the Scottish health education group nationally and to health boards locally whose expenditure since 1979 has been as follows:

Scottish Health Education Group Health Boards
£000 £000
1979–80 1,252 900
1980–81 1,540 1,018
1981–82 1,889 1,250
1982–83 2,136 1,413
1983–84 *2,356
* Estimated.

I keep under regular review the activities of SHEG: and it is for health boards to monitor their own health education projects.
