HC Deb 21 November 1983 vol 49 c22W
23. Mr. Coleman

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the amount of expenditure authorised by the Welsh Office for civil engineering projects in Wales, roads, schools, hospitals and so on during the first three quarters of 1983; and how this compares with the corresponding period in 1982.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

Capital expenditure by my Department on trunk road improvements and on major hospital schemes, together with capital expenditure by the Welsh Development Agency, the Development Board for Rural Wales and the Welsh water authority amounted to £179.9 million in the first nine months of 1982 and 199.8 million for the same months in 1983.

Of course local authorities and district health authorities also spend on such projects, but information on this expenditure is not readily available.
