§ Mr. Allen McKayasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will estimate by how many percentage points South Yorkshire bus fares will increase on the abolition of South Yorkshire metropolitan county council.
§ Mrs. ChalkerIt is not possible to forecast what will be the impact on bus fares of a reorganisation which is not due to take place until 1 April 1986. It is, however, the Government's view that the county council's present policy of freezing fares at 1975 levels imposes an unacceptably heavy burden on ratepayers.
