Proposal for a Council Directive ammending as regards credit insurance the First Directive (73/239/EEC) on the co-ordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the taking-up and pursuit of the business of direct insurance other than life assurance. To require Member States to end requirements for specialisation in credit insurance and the exemption of state-backed export credit organisations from the 1973 Non-life Insurance Establishment Directive. Deferred to a Council Working Group. Amended proposal for a Council Directive on the co-ordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to legal expense insurance. To require Member States to end requirements for specialisation in the field of legal expense insurance. Under consideration by a Council Working Group. Proposal for a Council Directive amending the First Directive (73/239/EEC) on the co-ordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the taking-up and pursuit of the business of direct insurance other than life assurance, particularly as regards tourist assistance. To bring within the scope of the 1973 Non-life Insurance Establishment Directive those undertakings offering assistance schemes, which have the characteristics of insurance but offer benefits in kind.
