HC Deb 12 May 1983 vol 42 c403W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Minister for Trade which countries impose higher tariffs on the import of European Community cars than is imposed by the European Community on imports to the European Community from those countries.

Mr. Peter Rees

I regret that this information is not readily available in the form requested. The majority of third countries have higher tariffs on imports of motor cars than does the Community. However, no tariff is payable on Community exports to the EFTA countries or to Japan; and the duty in the USA is only 2.8 per cent.
