HC Deb 04 May 1983 vol 42 c87W
26. Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many jobs have been created in Leith as a result of the Scottish Development Agency's involvement in local projects.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

Since the Leith economic action programme was set up by the combined efforts of the Scottish Development Agency and local authorities in 1981, the agency estimates that 450 jobs have been created or safeguarded. It is expected that a further 30 permanent jobs in Leith will accrue from the first round of successful projects recently announced under the LEG-UP scheme.
