Mr. Bowen Wellsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the number of people who will benefit from the extension of the right to buy under section 2 of the Housing and Building Control Bill to tenants living in houses which the local authority has on a leasehold basis.
§ Mr. StanleyWe estimate that some 50,000 public sector tenants in England and Wales will become eligible for the right to buy under the provisions in the Housing and Building Control Bill that extend the right to buy to those houses and flats where the landlord does not own the freehold interest in the land.
