HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 c470W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will arrange for the four hon. Members in Gwynedd to receive from him regular reports on progress with Ysbyty Gwynedd at Bangor.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

No. However, I shall endeavour to answer any questions asked by hon. Members.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what assessments have been made of the extent of the need for essential remedial work to meet fire safety requirements at the new Ysbyty Gwynedd at Bangor; whether the works will be funded by the Welsh Office; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

In accordance with normal practice, on completion of construction fire precautionary measures are being reviewed to decide whether modifications are necessary to meet changes in fire safety requirements which have been introduced since the design was laid down. The Department will pay for work which is deemed necessary for this purpose.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will itemise the building and engineering changes which will be needed at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, following discussions between the Welsh Health Technical Services Organisation representatives and fire prevention officers held on 2 February and 9 March.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

I shall write to the hon. Member when the Department has concluded its discussions with the interested parties.
