HC Deb 10 March 1983 vol 38 c459W
Q19. Mr. Wigley

asked the Prime Minister what progress has been achieved by her Government in respect of reducing discrimination against women.

The Prime Minister

Ministers have repeatedly reaffirmed the Government's commitment to equality of opportunity and to improving the position of women in society. A statutory responsibility to work towards the elimination of discrimination rests with the Equal Opportunities Commission, which the Government have continued to support. In its annual reports—copies of which are placed in the Library of the House—the commission regularly reviews the progress that has been made.
