asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will estimate the number of unemployed men over the age of 60 years who do not sign on for unemployment benefit and the number in this age category who are eligible for benefit and do sign on.

At 13 January there were 250,203 unemployed male claimants in the United Kingdom aged 60 and over. Estimates are not available for those unemployed males aged 60 and over who are not claiming benefit.
