§ Mr. Michael Marshallasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will break down the total of £929 million expenditure on overseas aid in 1981–82 to show the amounts allocated to each country concerned.
§ Mr. RaisonThe £929 million included £287 million for multilateral aid and subscriptions to international organisations. £502 million of the remaining bilateral aid was allocated directly to individual countries, but most of the rest can also be attributed by country. I am arranging for a table to be placed in the Library showing a country breakdown of public expenditure on overseas bilateral aid in 1981–82. The figures in the table do not correspond exactly to voted expenditure, mainly because they include loans by the CDC which exceed advances to the corporation by some £30 million.
