HC Deb 09 March 1983 vol 38 c421W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the proposals for the development of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis as the treatment for suitable kidney patients, what action he is taking to ensure adequate supplies of liquid for these patients in the event of a nuclear attack, in view of each patient's requirements of 2 litres of fluid three or four times a day.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Planning in the Department takes into account the needs of these patients, and others who are dependent upon life maintenance therapy, and covers the issue of reserve supplies of medicines in any period of crisis and dispersal of stocks held by hospitals.
