HC Deb 09 March 1983 vol 38 c438W
Mr. Pitt

asked the Secretary of State of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what facilities are available to British citizens who wish to trace relatives who disappeared in Cyprus in 1974; and whether any action has been taken by his Department to facilitate their inquiries.

Mr. Hurd

The proper body to solve this sad humanitarian problem is the intercommunal committee on missing persons set up under United Nations auspices. The British Government stand ready to do anything that the United Nations, or the two communities, would consider helpful in solving this problem.
