HC Deb 04 March 1983 vol 38 c254W
Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about British aid to Tanzania.

Mr. Raison

British aid remains sustantial. In 1982–83 we expect to spend about £20 million. It comprises capital aid and technical co-operation, in fulfilment of our commitments to the Government of Tanzania. We have recently increased to £73 million our total commitment over 1980–86 to the construction of the Songea-Makambako road.
