HC Deb 04 March 1983 vol 38 c254W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the cost of temporary secondary school cabins in Port Stanley.

Mr. Raison

Ten mobile homes were delivered to Port Stanley in February. For the remainder of 1983, they will be use to augment temporary boarding hostel accommodation for secondary school children.

The purchase price was £128,000.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what fees are being paid to consultants planning a new harbour and jetty at Port Stanley.

Mr. Raison

Consultants have not yet been engaged for such work.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the existing jetty at Port Stanley meets British harbour requirements.

Mr. Raison

The main existing jetty at Port Stanley is barely satisfactory to meet the present heavy demands made on it, but I am not aware of any specific British harbour requirements that apply to jetties.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government are making any payment towards the costs of the new tenant of the shop in Port Stanley.

Mr. Raison

No.
