§ Mr. Beaumont-Darkasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the progress of his review of the Price Marking (Bargain Offers) Order 1979.
§ Mr. FletcherStatutory consultations were completed earlier this year on interim proposals to simplify the existing Bargain Offers Order but there was wide disagreement between interested parties about the suggested action. In these circumstances I have decided that the existing order should remain in force unamended for the time being. In the light of the results of our wider review of legislation on misleading price and value claims, I intend to consider again whether any changes are needed.
