HL Deb 27 July 1983 vol 443 c1621WA
Lord Melchett

asked her Majesty's Government:

What data are being recorded on badger carcases which have been sent to MAFF by members of the public or which have been collected during the Ministry's control operations, whether other researchers have been allowed access to these carcases, and what results have been obtained by MAFF.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Lord Belstead)

The data cover details of location, physical features and disease status. Results are published in the Ministry's reports on bovine tuberculosis in badgers. Within the constraints imposed by health and safety regulations, collaborative work has been undertaken with the Royal Holloway and Imperial Colleges, the Middlesex Hospital, London, the Universities of Reading and Surrey and the Natural Environment Research Council.
