§ Dr. VaughanThe Government support the registration system for insurance brokers introduced by the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977 and also welcome the complementary development by the industry of non-statutory self-regulation for other insurance intermediaries. I have recently received representations from two of the promoters of proposals to this end. The position may need to be reviewed in the light of Professor Gower's report on investor protection.
