HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 cc327-8W
Mr. Tilley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he has issued any advice to the fuel industries on how they should treat large fuel debts incurred by supplementary benefit claimants who are on housing benefit.

Mr. John Moore

This is primarily a matter for the DHSS and the fuel boards. I understand they are maintaining close liaison to ensure that the transition from supplementary benefit to housing benefit is as trouble free as possible where it affects those currently having their fuel bills paid by the DHSS under the "fuel direct" arrangement
