HC Deb 10 February 1983 vol 36 c472W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of school leavers currently unemployed in Dundee; and how many people under the age of 18 years have never had a job.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

[pursuant to his reply, 3 February 1983, c. 189] At 13 January 1983, the latest date for which information is available, the number of unemployed school or student leavers—defined as those who have not entered employment since completing full-time education—residing in the area covered by the Dundee jobcentre and careers office was 1968, of whom 1,095 were under 18 years of age. These figures are compiled from the new claimant based unemployment count.
