§ Mr. Woolmerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the changes proposed in the report of the review of the collection service, he will consider mounting a short experiment to monitor the number of occasions between 18 February and 5 March when the collection offices at (a) Taunton and (b) Huddersfield contact
436W(a) for the cost of the Civil Service 1981–82 and (b) the average cost for each civil servant; and if he will break down the average cost for each civil servant into pay, national insurance, superannuation and other costs such as office space, heating, lighting, car allowance, travel allowance, and so on.
