asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied that adequate information is available to the public about the house renovation grant provisions which have been made by Her Majesty's Government; and if he will make a statement.

The level of demand for house improvement and repairs grants has increased substantially since the announcement last April of the introduction of some grants at higher rates. I therefore have good reason to believe that the measures taken to publicise these changes have been successful. In addition, the booklet "Improve your Home with a Grant" is currently being updated and new stock will be available next month.
