HC Deb 10 February 1983 vol 36 c451W
Mr. Weetch

asked the Minister for Trade if he will refer to the Director General of Fair Trading the practice of estate agents of colluding over commission charges.

Dr. Vaughan

Agreements among estate agents may be registrable under the Restrictive Trade Practices Act 1976. Moreover, certain agreements and arrangements are unlawful under the Restriction on Agreements (Estate Agents) Order 1970. Responsibility for keeping under review the operation of the order, and for administering the Restrictive Trade Practices Act, lies with the Director General of Fair Trading; and if the hon. Member has evidence of any breaches of either the order or the registration provisions of the Act, he will no doubt make this available to the Director General.
