HC Deb 10 February 1983 vol 36 c468W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will allocate additional resources to ensure that the objectives of Munn and Dunning-based courses are satisfactorily catered for in terms of facilities and teaching staff.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

consideration is presently being given to the comments received upon the consultative paper "The Munn and Dunning Reports: Framework for Decision", published on 1 September 1982. My right hon. friend will announce in due course his decision on the implementation of new curriculum and assessment arrangements for the third and fourth years of secondary education and his decision will take account of the availability of resources.

Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment he has made of the levels of staffing required for the Munn and Dunning programmes.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

The consultative paper "The Munn and Dunning Reports: Framework for Decision", published on 1 September 1982, stated the Government's view that new curriculum and assessment arrangements for the third and fourth years of secondary education and other priority calls on staffing, such as microcomputer developments, could be carried out with overall national staffing at about 4 to 5 per cent. over Red Book levels, excluding the probationer allowance.
