HC Deb 04 February 1983 vol 36 cc231-2W
Mr McMahon

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many workers are covered by a short-time working agreement in Scotland; and how this agreement is operated region by region.

Mr. Alison

Under the Government's temporary short-time working compensation scheme, support was being given in November to save 2,520 potentially redundant jobs in Scotland. The scheme is administered from Edinburgh by my Department's office for Scotland. Statistics on the support provided in each region in Scotland are not available. My Department has no information on the number of workers covered by private industry agreements on short-time working in Scotland.
