§ Mr. HurdThere were 72 police cadets in the west midlands police at the end of November 1983. Under section 17(1) of the Police Act 1964, police authorities are responsible for approving the number of police cadets appointed in each force in England and Wales, and information about recruitment plans is not available centrally.
