Lord Vaizey

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the cost to the Metropolitan Police and to other public bodies of the research on the police recently conducted by the Policy Studies Institute.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)

The total cost to the Metropolitan Police of the Policy Studies Institute research was £128,328. No other public money was involved, although an additional £30,000 towards the cost of the research was donated by the City Parochial Foundation, an independent charitable organisation. The cost of publishing the report has been borne by the Policy Studies Institute.
