HL Deb 21 December 1983 vol 446 c821WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the fact that the Minister has recommended that prisoners in the special cells in Parkhurst Prison should wear extra clothing, they will have the temperatures in these cells measured periodically when they are occupied; and what they consider is the minimum acceptable temperature for cell accommodation in prisons.

Lord Elton

I have not recommended that prisoners in the special cells in H M Prison, Parkhurst, should wear extra clothing. The recommended temperature for cell accommodation is between 13C and 19C (55.4F and 66.2F).
