HC Deb 20 December 1983 vol 51 c125W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether action has now been completed to organise regional police war duties courses as envisaged in paragraph 8(i) of appendix F to Home Office circular No. ES 4/1979.

Mr. Hurd

Yes. Police war duties courses have been held in all regions for some years.

Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of police officers of the rank of inspector and above now in post have not yet attended a regional police war duties course, as was envisaged in paragraph 8(i) of appendix F to Home Office circular No. ES 4/1979.

Mr. Hurd

This information is not recorded centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that all police forces maintain an adequate number of trained officers who can lecture on home defence matters as required by paragraph 8(iv) of appendix F to Home Office circular No. ES 4/1979 and that full use is being made of the lecturing capabilities of these officers.

Mr. Hurd

Yes.
