HC Deb 20 December 1983 vol 51 c199W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in detail the individual savings which, if clause 6 of the Health and Social Security Bill were enacted, would reduce benefit expenditure from the national insurance fund by £18 million by 1986–87.

Mr. Newton

The savings would be made almost entirely from child dependency additions to contributory invalidity benefit. Small amounts would be saved from child dependency additions to other long-term benefits.
