HC Deb 19 December 1983 vol 51 c76W
Sir Hector Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the cost, including the foundations, of the new lighting pylons on the M73, erected between the M8 and M74; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Younger

The route on which lighting pylons have been erected is on the M73, between the M8 and M74. The total estimated cost of the new lighting installations, including foundations, is £615,000.

A total of 47 lighting columns are being provided along approximately 6 km. of carriageway, including the major interchange at Maryville. The purpose of the installation is to improve road safety by providing a continuous system of lighting at and between the important intersections at Baillieston and Maryville.
