§ Mr. Tony Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what meetings representatives of his Department have had with Greater Manchester council and Trafford borough council over the last three months concerning the M63 motorway widening between junctions three and five; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what information concerning the line of route of the M63 motorway between junctions three and five, following proposed widening, has been passed from his Department to Trafford borough council; when this will be publicly available; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. ChalkerOfficials from my Department met members and officers of both the Greater Manchester county and Trafford borough councils in November to discuss the details we had given them of possible alternative solutions for this widening. I intend to make a public announcement after considering the views of the councils and other public bodies; this should be early next year. I hope that construction will start by 1987.
