asked the Secretary of State for Employment when he proposes to issue proposals for daily inspection of equipment used by the public at travelling fairs.

Fairground ride operators are advised to undertake daily inspection of their equipment in the 1976 Home Office guide to safety at fairs, at paragraph 10.2.2.

This advice will be continued in the Health and Safety Executive's code of safe practice at fairs, which it is expected that the Executive will issue in the early spring of 1984. The code will establish certain minimum provisions regarding inspections, including the maintenance of written records that can be examined by inspectors of the Health and Safety Executive.
