HC Deb 13 December 1983 vol 50 cc404-5W
Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Leeds, Central (Mr. Patchett) on 23 November, Official Report, c. 304, he has received any written communication from the Dudley metropolitan district council giving details of the way in which it could save 33 per cent. of staff currently engaged in the West Midlands county council on services which would be transferred to Dudley in the event of the proposals contained in Cmnd. 9063 being implemented.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Yes.

Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which services would be transferred to the Dudley district council from the present West Midlands metropolitan county council in the event of the proposals contained in Cmnd. 9063 being implemented; and how many staff are currently employed in those services by the county council.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Our proposals for reallocating services from metropolitan county councils to district councils, including Dudley, are set out in our White Paper (Cmnd. 9063). It is a matter for the West Midlands county council how many staff they currently employ on those services in respect of Dudley, and for each district council to decide how many staff it may want to employ in respect of reallocated services.
