§ Mr. Oakesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he proposes to build any other major prisons than the 14 already announced before 1990.
§ Mr. HurdThe Department is constantly seeking to identify possible sites for new prison projects which should be added to the prison building programme. Decisions to proceed with particular schemes in addition to those which have already been announced must await the outcome of future years' public expenditure discussions.
