§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe 14 local education authorities which are currently running projects under the technical and vocational education initiative expect to make use of 144 schools and colleges. These are existing institutions and no new institutes are proposed in the terms of my hon. Friend's question. Local education authorities which are not already receiving financial support under the initiative have been invited to submit proposals for additional projects to start in September 1984.

§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAll 14 pilot projects started on time in September on the basis of proposals put forward by local education authorities and adopted by the Manpower Services Commission. A more detailed report on progress in these first pilot projects will be given in a review of the technical and vocational education initiative to be published by the commission in the new year.
