HC Deb 26 April 1983 vol 41 cc284-5W
Dr. J. Dickson Mabon

asked the Minister for Trade pursuant to his answer on 28 March, Official Report, c. 18, what further changes the Government are seeking in regard to the proposed European Community regulation on exclusive distribution agreements.

Dr. Vaughan

[pursuant to the reply, 25 April, c. 231]: The Government's main concern is to seek extension of the block exemption so that a manufacturer may appoint as his sole distributor a manufacturer of similar products when both are large companies. Failing this we would wish to see a new provision introduced under which such agreements would be published individually in the Official Journal and then deemed to be exempt, if there were no objections within 90 days.
