asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will provide details for each division of the Fraud Squad in the United Kingdom, showing the numbers and their composition by rank/grade and indicating how many possess recognised accountancy qualifications, and whether they will also state the total annual cost of the entire service.

The basic annual pay of these officers was in the region of £6.5 million. (This excludes rent allowance and other salary-related costs). Information about the qualifications of individual officers is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
