HC Deb 28 October 1982 vol 29 c528W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much tax was received from the Falklands for each year since 1945, giving figures for each year.

Mr. Ridley

The Falkland Islands have their own system of taxation.

Subject to certain exemptions and to the effects of arrangements for the relief of double taxation between the United Kingdom and the Falkland Islands, Falkland Islands residents are liable to United Kingdom tax on income from the United Kingdom and United Kingdom residents on income from the Falkland Islands. It would not be possible to reveal the small amount of tax involved without risk of breaching the confidentiality of the affairs of the very small number of taxpayers concerned.
