§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what cases are outstanding against him in European courts outside the United Kingdom; when he expects judgments to be given in each case; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MayhewTwo cases against the United Kingdom Government which involve matters within the responsibility of the Home Department are before the European Court of Human Rights. There was a hearing in Silver and others against the United Kingdom, the prisoners correspondence cases, in September 1982. The case of John Joseph Campbell and Patrick Fell against the United Kingdom which is also concerned with prison matters was referred to the court in October 1982. It is not known when judgment will be given in either case. There are in addition a number of cases involving Home Department matters before the European Commission of Human Rights.
