HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 cc48-9W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the estimated cost of the Conwy tunnel (A55 scheme) and the time to be taken in construction; how many construction jobs will be created; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Roberts

The estimated cost of the Conwy tunnel and associated works in the Estuary is £75 million at November 1981 prices. Construction is anticipated to take four years. It is not possible to estimate precise numbers of jobs to be created, but contractors are well aware of the financial advantages of using local labour as much as possible.
