HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 c69W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish in the Official Report the text of the letter of 15 November from the Under-Secretary of State to the hon. Member for West Lothian relating to the British Antarctic Survey.

Mr. William Shelton

Yes The text of my letter was as followsI thought that I should hasten to let you know that the second sentence of the written answer which I gave on 8 November to your question about Grytviken should have read as follows: 'It will be for the British Antarctic Survey to decide how to apportion the additional money as between the replacement of lost and damaged scientific and other equipment at Grytviken, where I understand that the extent of the losses is still being evaluated, and the Survey's other activities.' I think you will agree that the addition of the final five words makes a significant difference to the sense of the answer. I am arranging for the bound copy of Hansard to be corrected accordingly. I am sorry that this has occurred.
