HC Deb 24 November 1982 vol 32 c524W
Mr. Sheerman

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what were the long-term effects of the "Target" campaign designed to promote pedal cycle safety.

Mrs. Chalker

As I mentioned in my reply of 15 November to the hon. Member for Inverness (Mr. Johnston)—[Vol. 32, c.125]—the 1980 and 1981 regional campaigns resulted in significant reductions in cycling casualties in the areas concerned during the period of the campaigns. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have had a long-term impact.
